We decided to stay an extra day in Port Campbell, then drive directly from Port Campbell to Penola in the Coonawarra Wine Region on Day 7. Distance of 300 kilometres.
Port Campbell really turned on a beautiful day. Very little wind or cloud; with a pleasant 25 degree temperature. Later in the day we went up to the eastern side of the harbour, and had Sundowners. A couple of glasses of bubbly to finish the day.
Did a stopover at London Bridge. Originally connected to the headland via an arch, but in 1990 the arch collapsed into the ocean to form a pillar. The same process that formed the Twelve Apostles.
Did a stopover in Mt Gambier for a late lunch before heading up to Penola where we will stay for two nights at a beautiful heritage house known as Sarah’s Cottage. The cottage is surrounded by roses of every conceivable colour.
Spent the first night in the cottage around a traditional open fire, with cheese and wine.
